We lift loads many times a day. Whether

it is part of our job or the shopping bags, the baby or a heavy flower pot, it is important that we do not put unneccersary stress through our back.

Tips to avoid back injuries when lifting.


Lifting and carrying the load 


Take two small lighter loads if one large load is too heavy to lift and carry .


Safe lifting


Get close to the load do not reach.


Do not jerk, use a smooth motion to lift straight up.


Keep your back straight and bend the knees. Squat like a weight lifter and let your legs take the weight not the back.


Keep the load as close to the body as possible.                                                               


Always turn your feet never twist your back. Your nose and toes should always point in the same direction.
